Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s epic biographical thriller, won seven nominations, including Best Picture. Poor Things won Emma Stone the Best Actress prize, while Cillian Murphy won Best Actor.

At Los Angeles’ Ovation Hollywood on Monday, the much-awaited 96th Academy Awards event came to a stylish conclusion. Christopher Nolan won seven prizes for his epic biographical thriller Oppenheimer, which also took home the Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor honours for him and the stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.

Emma Stone, for her role as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, took home the Academy Award in the Best Actress category. The winner of Best Supporting Actress went to Da’Vine Joy Randolph of The Holdovers. Starting at 4 a.m. (IST), the Oscars began this time.

Nisha Pahuja, a Canadian filmmaker who was born in India, directed the documentary To Kill a Tiger, which took home the Documentary Feature Film title, a major blow for India. This place saw the success of Mstyslav Chernov’s 20 Days in Mariupol.

With a total of thirteen nominations, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer team joined the 2024 Oscar competition. Barbie, The Holdovers, American Fiction, The Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things, and The Zone of Interest were among the fiercely competitive films in the Best Picture category.
For the fourth time, comedian Jimmy Kimmel presided over the event; this was his second year back in the role. From 4 a.m. on, the ceremony was streamed live in India via Star Movies and Disney+ Hotstar.
