The Kristu Mahotsav 2024, a vibrant celebration of Christmas as the “Festival of Christian Charity,” was held with grandeur at Fr. Agnel School, Gautam Nagar, New Delhi. Organized by the Chavara Cultural Centre and the Association of Catholic Rehabilitation Centres in India (ACRCI), the event showcased the spirit of inclusivity, compassion, and community harmony.
With the theme “Include Everyone, Exclude None,” the festival brought together religious leaders, specially-abled children, and underprivileged individuals from Christian charitable organizations in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The evening featured interfaith prayers, cultural performances, and charity initiatives, creating an atmosphere of unity and hope.
A Message of Inclusivity
Religious leaders from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Bahai, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Jain, and Christian communities united to promote interfaith harmony. The highlight of the event was the inspiring performances by specially-abled children, whose talent and determination embodied the event’s theme of inclusion.
Delhi Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto shared a heartfelt message, saying, “God has created us equal. The true reflection of His image in us is seen when we show compassion and understanding to those in need. Let us learn from our children, who teach us the real meaning of love and empathy.”

Building a More Inclusive Society
Dr. Mallika Nadha, President of Special Olympics Bharat, emphasized the need for an inclusive world. She said, “People with disabilities should not just be included but given opportunities to shine. Tonight reminds us that together, we can create a society where everyone is valued.”
Father Jose Alarico Carvalho, Director of Fr. Agnel School, spoke about the essence of Christmas: “The crib is a symbol of love and selflessness. Those who are differently-abled are equally part of our society, and we must continue to honor their dignity and worth.”
A Call for Compassion
Father Roby Kannanchira CMI, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, welcomed attendees with a powerful message: “Christmas is a celebration of love, inclusion, and compassion. No one should ever feel forgotten, regardless of their background or ability.”
The event also saw the presence of prominent figures like Dr. Ikbal Singh Lalpura, Chairman of the National Minority Commission, and other esteemed guests.
