An IndiGo flight bound for Varanasi from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport found itself at the center of a security scare early Tuesday morning when it received a bomb threat. Flight 6E2211, scheduled for departure around 5 am, was halted on the runway just moments before takeoff after the pilot discovered a chilling message scrawled on a piece of paper inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories.
Authorities swiftly responded to the threat, promptly moving the aircraft to an isolation bay for further inspection. A quick response team was deployed to conduct a thorough search of the plane, yet no suspicious items were found. All 176 passengers aboard were safely deboarded through emergency exits.
In an official statement, IndiGo assured the public that the necessary security protocols were followed, with the aircraft undergoing rigorous inspection. Once all security checks were completed, the aircraft would be returned to the terminal area, the airline affirmed.
This incident follows a recent hoax on another airline. Earlier this month, a similar threat was reported on an Air India flight departing for Vadodara, which later turned out to be unfounded.
Despite the tense moments, authorities emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant and swift action in ensuring passenger safety in such situations.
