7.59 kg of ganja seized near Deendayal Bus Stand in Jabalpur, marking a major blow to local drug networks

Jabalpur police successfully apprehended two individuals involved in illegal drug trafficking. Acting on a reliable tip-off, a joint team from the Crime Branch and Madhotal Police Station intercepted the suspects near the Green City Bridge, close to Deendayal Bus Stand. The operation, which was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shaina Khan, aged 21, a resident of Government Quarters Block A, Lema Garden, Gohalpur, and Devendra Sondhiya, aged 31, originally from near Badi Santoshi Mata Mandir, Lalmati, Ghamapur. Sondhiya currently resides near the Power House, Medical College, Gadh.
Upon conducting a search of their belongings, authorities discovered a total of 7.590 kilograms of illegal cannabis concealed in two bags. Shaina Khan was carrying two packets of ganja in a backpack, while Devendra Sondhiya had three packets in a trolley bag.The confiscated drugs have an estimated market value of ₹1,52,000.
Both individuals face charges under Sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Investigations are currently underway to trace the source of the drugs and uncover any potential links to larger trafficking networks operating in the region.

This arrest is part of a broader, ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh. In a related incident, four individuals, including a couple, were arrested in Jabalpur for smuggling 13.2 kg of ganja, valued at approximately ₹2.6 lakh. The Crime Branch and Gorabazar Police carried out the operation after getting a tip regarding people peddling ganja near Shani Mandir in Khalkatola.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities to assist in the fight against illegal narcotics.
