As a gesture of solidarity, the university pledges long-term academic support to the affected families and backs the Indian government’s stand against terrorism.
Bathinda, In response to the recent horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, Guru Kashi University (GKU) has taken a compassionate initiative. The university has announced that it will provide free education to children who lost their fathers in the attack.
The announcement was made by the university’s Chancellor, Mr. S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, who emphasized that the aim is to ensure long-term academic support for the affected children, so their future remains secure despite this tragic loss.
Chancellor Sidhu stated:
“The loss of innocent lives in Pahalgam is a tragedy for the entire nation. As an institution rooted in the values of service and education, Guru Kashi University stands with these children. Their education is now our responsibility, and we will do everything possible to ensure they are not left behind during this difficult time.”
He also expressed strong support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India’s firm stance against terrorism.
“We condemn this cowardly and inhumane act, driven by hate and fear. But such forces will never succeed in breaking our society. As a citizen and an educator, I believe our answer must be unity, compassion, and determination. Guru Kashi University fully supports the Indian government’s efforts to restore peace and justice in Kashmir.”
GKU extended its deepest condolences to all families affected by the attack and reiterated its solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The university acknowledged the strength and resilience of the Kashmiri community and firmly rejected the attempts of violent groups to disrupt peace and unity.
Guru Kashi University believes in nation-building through education, community support, and empowerment. It has appealed to academic institutions and civil society across the country to join hands in this humanitarian cause and collectively stand against the forces that seek to divide society.
