Famous Ghazal Writer Dushyant Kumar’s Birth Anniversary celebrated at PCI with poetry meet and discussion

New Delhi, September 2, 2024:

Hindi Academy, Delhi, in collaboration with Yamuna Yuvak Kendra organized a special discussion and poetry meet on the birth anniversary of the famous ghazal poet Shri Dushyant Kumar. The event was held at the Press Club of India in New Delhi and served as an important occasion for Hindi literature enthusiasts to pay tribute to Dushyant Kumar and remember his contributions.

The event was graced by the presence of poets and writers from across the nation, which added to the appeal of this special gathering. Invited poets included Shri Ram Shyam Haseen, Shri Shivkumar Bilgarami, Shri Bharat Bhushan Arya, Dr. Omkar Tripathi, and Shri Alok Srivastava ‘Aviral’. Shri Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, the General Secretary of Yamuna Yuvak Kendra, presided over the program, while the Padma Shri awardee and educationist Shri J.S. Rajput was the chief guest. Shri Rishi Kumar Sharma, Deputy Secretary of the Hindi Academy, Delhi, was also present as a special guest.

The program started with a discussion focusing on Dushyant Kumar’s literary legacy, the relevance of his writings, and their impact on society. Various literary figures and experts shared their thoughts during this session. Poems and Ghazals were presented by Dr. Omkar Tripathi, Shivkumar Bilgarami, Bharat Bhushan Arya, Alok Srivastava ‘Aviral’, Ram Shyam Haseen, Neena Shehar, Saurabh Shekhar, Neelam Arora, Sapna Ahsaas, Vandana Kuanr, Alka Mishra, Darshni Priya, Satyam Bhaskar, and others were dedicated to Dushyant Kumar’s literary heritage.

In his presidential speech, Shri Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi said, “Dushyant Kumar’s writings are as relevant and inspiring today as they were in his time. The aim of this program is to remember his literary contributions and spread awareness and sensitivity in society through his ghazals and poems. This event reflects our commitment to Hindi literature and is a unique effort to introduce the younger generation to this invaluable literary treasure.”

Chief guest and famous educationist, Padma Shri awardee Shri J.S. Rajput, said, “The efforts of the Hindi Academy, Delhi, and Yamuna Yuvak Kendra are commendable. Such programs are a significant way to preserve our literary heritage and awaken literary consciousness among the youth.”

Famous poet Shri Shivkumar Bilgarami said, “Dushyant Kumar was a poet of public awareness. By using new imagery and symbols he breathed new life into the soul of ghazals.”

Through the combined efforts of the Hindi Academy and Yamuna Yuvak Kendra, this event to honor Dushyant Kumar’s literary heritage was indeed a memorable occasion for literature enthusiasts. It not only celebrated Dushyant Kumar’s literary journey but also highlighted that his legacy in Hindi literature remains as relevant and inspiring today as it was during his lifetime.
