The Congress party has alleged corruption of lakhs of rupees within the electricity department in Jabalpur, during the tenure of the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. Congress claims to have evidence of corruption through documents and drone cameras in Jabalpur.

The case is related to corruption that occurred during the shifting and electrification of utility poles, and it may involve high-ranking officials and contractors from the electricity department. Congress plans to report this corruption case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Lokayukta. Congress asserts that a substantial amount of money was allocated for a project through a tender, but the tender’s conditions were not fully met. The equipment on the utility poles is not easily visible from below, so Congress leaders used drone cameras to capture irregularities in the electrification process.
Saurabh Sharma, a leader of the Congress party working in Madhya Pradesh, obtained some important documents through the Right to Information Act. He claims that those responsible for providing electricity connections in a specific area did not follow the rules. They not only failed to do the work they were supposed to but also intentionally used substandard materials and old equipment instead of upgrading as required. They also believe that some key individuals in the electricity department misused public funds for personal gain. According to them, despite recent infrastructure development, electricity problems persist. The Congress state president for power sector reforms, Sharab Sharma, says they will soon file a complaint about the corruption in this entire project.
Officials from the electricity department are denying any wrongdoing, despite the allegations of corruption by the Congress party. Sudhir Arora, in charge of the project, stated that they have done nothing wrong, even though the Congress party has accused them of corruption. Arora mentioned that if there is any corruption, they will investigate it. He clarified that they only oversee the work, and it is actually carried out by contractors. However, if anyone has a complaint, they will definitely investigate it.
