Speculation regarding Chirag Paswan’s potential candidature in the upcoming Delhi assembly polls has grown following his recent political activities, though he is still mum over making an official declaration. Although the BJP has announced candidates for 59 of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi, according to reports in the media, the party might spare some of the remaining 11 seats for its NDA allies, which include JD(U) and Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas). The exact number is unclear.
In the assembly elections 2020, AAP completely dominated by bagging 62 of 70 seats; BJP got hold of merely eight seats. And Congress that used to win elections in Delhi from the past consecutive 15 years did not receive even one single seat in both the elections.
Chirag Paswan has accused Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of ridiculing the common man of Bihar and Eastern UP. The people of Delhi should remember it for voting purposes as Chirag Paswan believed that NDA would once again come into office under BJP leaders.
The last date for filing nominations is January 17 and scrutiny of nominations on January 18. The withdrawal of nomination will be up to January 20. The election will be held in a single phase on February 5, and the counting of results will be done on February 8.
While Chirag Paswan has hinted towards his party’s intention to contest, it remains unclear how many seats his LJP (Ram Vilas) will actually field candidates for, and whether this will help strengthen the BJP-led NDA in the Delhi assembly.
