Amit Shah to Unveil BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections

Jammu and Kashmir Set for Assembly Polls on September 25

New Delhi: 6th September 2024

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will release the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Sankalp Patra’ or election manifesto on Friday for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, scheduled for September 25. Shah, currently on a two-day visit to the Union Territory, is expected to launch the manifesto at 3:30 PM at a prominent hotel in Jammu. Senior BJP leaders will join him for the event as the party gears up for a crucial election campaign.

The BJP considers Jammu district, with its 11 assembly constituencies, as a significant area of focus. In the 2014 Assembly elections, the party secured nine of these 11 seats, contributing to its overall tally of 25 seats in the region. Winning a majority of these seats again remains a central goal for the BJP as it aims to strengthen its presence in Jammu and Kashmir. Star Campaigners to Lead a Robust Campaign

The BJP has lined up a powerful team of star campaigners for the second phase of the elections, with top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, expected to address rallies across the Union Territory. Other prominent names on the campaign trail include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President JP Nadda, and senior ministers like Nitin Gadkari and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In addition to the Union Ministers, state leaders such as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Himachal Pradesh Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur will also be part of the campaign. The BJP’s strategy emphasizes a strong outreach in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the polls, with a list of 40 key leaders taking part in rallies and public meetings.

With the Assembly polls being the first major political event after the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, the BJP is expected to highlight its developmental initiatives in the Union Territory. The party aims to win voter confidence by showcasing its governance record and promises outlined in the ‘Sankalp Patra.’ The election results will be crucial in shaping the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
