Jabalpur, October 31, 2023

In the past two Lok Sabha elections, Rakesh Singh, a four-time Member of Parliament from Jabalpur, has been winning in the name of PM Modi. This time, he is contesting as an MLA candidate from the West Vidhan Sabha, but controversies seem to follow him relentlessly. In a recent, his supporters went to the extreme when they physically assaulted a woman during his campaign.

The incident unfolded in the Mandwa area of the West Vidhan Sabha constituency, where the MP was personally going door-to-door for votes, while his supporters were canvassing on different floors. During the campaign, some women expressed dissatisfaction with the development work in the area and told the workers that they would vote for the Congress instead. In response, the infuriated BJP workers resorted to physical violence against the women, leading to police intervention. The police arrested everyone involved and took them to the police station, where a crowd had gathered.

Winning the Vidhan Sabha election is proving to be a challenging task for MP Rakesh Singh due to his tendency to disappear from the constituency after winning. Moreover, such controversies only add to his troubles. Pictures of his supporters consuming marijuana during nomination rallies have also gone viral.

The situation at the police station saw the presence of senior workers from both the BJP and Congress, and the incident became a heated dispute.
