Women Enjoy Teej Festivities in Leheriya Attire
Handicraft fair is attracting visitors
New Delhi, August 8, 2024 –
Bikaner House in New Delhi was immersed in the vibrant colors of Teej on the fourth day of the week-long festival, which runs from August 4 to August 11. The entire premises came alive with exquisite decorations, colorful performances, and an array of handicrafts that transformed Bikaner House into a celebration of Teej.
On the occasion, the principal Resident Commissioner of Rajasthan, Shri Alok, highlighted that this festival, celebrated during the month of Shravan, is a beautiful blend of Rajasthani art and culture. It offers a glimpse of Rajasthani traditions to the residents and the Rajasthani diaspora living in Delhi. The festival brings together every aspect of Rajasthani art and culture under one roof, making it a unique showcase of Rajasthan’s rich heritage.
Today’s events included a Mehndi competition, a Leheriya-themed Rajasthani costume contest, and a grand procession in honor of Teej Mata. The Teej Mata procession was conducted with traditional rituals and prayers, embodying the rich customs of Rajasthan.
Visitors enthusiastically participated in the procession, swaying to the tunes of folk instruments of Rajasthani culture.
Shri Om Prakash, coordinator of this handicraft fair being organized by RUDA in Bikaner House premises, said that this time about 50 stalls of Rajasthani handicrafts, apparel, Rajasthani bangles and food have been set up in the fair, Where a huge crowd of buyers is being seen.
There is a lot of enthusiasm among the buyers about Rajasthani sarees, clothes and handicraft items. Shri Om Prakash said that we have chosen to set up stalls in this fair keeping in mind the preferences of the people of Delhi so that maximum sales can be made and the artisans can get the benefit of this fair.
