Angelina Jolie has announced that she and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement following an extensive eight-year legal conflict. Jolie’s attorney James Simon announced the news on Monday, thereby ending one of the most drawn-out and acrimonious divorces in Hollywood history.
Jolie and Pitt, who have been married for 12 years and are parents to six children, formally initiated divorce proceedings in 2016. This initial adjudication, clownishly labeled “an incident” on a private jet, for which Pitt was suspected of abusing Jolie and kids. Although they had reached a legal divorce in 2019, the final settlement over child custody and asset division dragged on for years afterward.

While the settlement was surely a welcome relief for her, Jolie’s attorney also described her emotional exhaustion during its undertaking. However, this is by no means a final settlement yet; it still requires the judge’s approval.
Over the years, Jolie and Pitt have relied on a private judge to mediate the case, but after Jolie raised concerns about the judge’s conflict of interest, the case was sent back to ground zero.
Details remain under wraps, but it was expected to address their children’s custody and the issue of dividing assets. The two are still in litigation over ownership of a winery in France, however, how this divorce settlement will factor in this, remains a mystery.
With this settlement, the oma has opened as they bid adieu to such a froughtly long time together, working mostly in their respective lives on why to co-parent their kids.
