The arrest of actor Allu Arjun has ignited a storm of controversy, with Dr. K A Paul, the political leader and renowned evangelist, emerging as a fierce critic of the legal system’s alleged double standards.

Dr. Paul’s scathing remarks have brought the debate over equality before the law into sharp focus. Citing Article 14 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees equal treatment under the law, he questioned the selective enforcement of justice. “Why is an actor arrested so swiftly while powerful politicians are rarely held accountable for their actions?” he asked, referencing past incidents involving political rallies that resulted in fatalities yet went uninvestigated.

The contrast he drew between Allu Arjun’s arrest and the lack of accountability in cases linked to prominent political figures, such as former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, resonated with many. “What about the lives lost during the Kandakur rally, the Guntur stampede, or the Pushkaralu festival tragedy? Where is the justice for those victims?” Dr. Paul demanded.

This isn’t the first time the political and judicial systems have faced criticism for perceived inequities. Dr. Paul’s decision to potentially file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the arrest underscores his commitment to holding authorities accountable.

In his statement, Dr. Paul also invoked Article 19, championing his right to free speech as he called for transparency and fairness. “Every citizen, irrespective of their status, deserves justice. This arrest challenges the very principles our democracy stands on,” he asserted.
