Why were airports and airlines affected by the CrowdStrike outage?
The global technological outage appeared to be caused in part by a flawed software update distributed by CrowdStrike, a large US cybersecurity outfit. CrowdStrike’s software is used by major organizations all over the world, therefore the outage affected all of their systems at once.

Cloud-based technologies ensure that planes arrive on time and our airports run efficiently. So when these services went down, it was as if they had been turned off.

Indigo, India’s largest airline, stated that the issue with Microsoft Azure had an impact on its systems “across the network,” resulting in increased wait times at its contact centers and airports. A message issued on Friday stated that there may be delayed check-ins and lengthier lines”We are actively working with Microsoft Azure through our digital team to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.”

Aksa Air

In a statement on social networking platform X, the airliner stated that its online services, such as booking, check-in, and booking management, would be temporarily unavailable.

Air India Express
“Several airlines and airports worldwide have experienced disruptions in online and airport operations due to transient issues with their digital infrastructure. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding,” the X post said.

SpiceJet
Right now, a technical issue is affecting our capability to provide you with updates on flight disruptions.
