A Celebration of Life and Beauty Through “Shringara: Rang Anurang”
Devyani Jaipuria, in collaboration with ASAVARI (Society), hosted the 10th edition of the annual festival, Vividh Mat: Perspectives, at the Basement Theatre of the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road. This year’s theme, “Shringara: Rang Anurang,” offered a profound exploration of Shringara, the embodiment of beauty, love, and the richness of the human experience, following the period of National Mourning.

The evening began with an enlightening discussion, featuring Padmashri and SNA awardee Shovana Narayan and Ambassador Dr. Suresh Goel, former DG of ICCR, who led the conversation alongside an esteemed panel of guests: renowned artist and sculptor Jatin Das, celebrated poet and author Sudeep Sen, and multi-talented actor-director Sohaila Kapur.
Jatin Das shared his reflections on the essence of Shringara: “It is not just an aesthetic expression but a reflection of life’s pulse. Shringara is the delicate balance between form and emotion, where art touches the soul and brings the invisible to life. This celebration explores how beauty transcends boundaries, weaving together cultural heritage and the human experience.”
Sudeep Sen added, “Shringara is the poetry of the senses, a celebration that speaks to the heart in a language beyond words. It converges art, love, and life, offering us a glimpse into the deepest facets of the human soul, helping us understand the world around us.”
Sohaila Kapur emphasized, “Shringara is the art of capturing life’s beauty through expression, where emotion comes alive through movement and performance.”
The discussion explored Shringara not only as an aesthetic experience but as an essential aspect of life, spanning its visual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. The panelists discussed how Shringara transcends the boundaries of art, culture, and philosophy, reflecting the complexity of human existence.

For Shovana Narayan, Shringara represents the very essence of life itself: “It is not just an artistic form; it is the language that speaks directly to the heart. The event concluded with a mesmerizing Baithaki Bhaav performance by Madhura Phatak, a senior disciple of Shovana Narayan, who brought Shringara to life through classical dance, offering the audience an immersive experience of the deep emotional connection that Shringara evokes.
